Due to the major fiasco in December, IndiGo has now been charged with a Rs. 22 crore fine for the flight disruptions. The airline has also responded to this.

The DGCA has fined IndiGo Rs. 22 crore for flight disruptions in December. According to the reports, during the time between December 3 and 5, 2025, there were significant delays and cancellations, with IndiGo cancelling 2,507 flights and 1,852 experiencing delays. Due to these variables, more than 300,000 travellers were stranded at Indian airports.

Following an investigation that revealed significant planning, operational, and regulatory failures at the root of the large flight disruptions in December 2025, the DGCA, the civil aviation regulatory agency, has fined IndiGo Rs 22.20 crore and taken strong enforcement measures against its top management.

The chairman and board members of InterGlobe Aviation Ltd., which owns IndiGo, said in a statement that they have received the DGCA’s directive and will take the necessary steps. The statement went on to say, “We want to use this opportunity to inform all of our stakeholders, particularly our valued customers, that the board and management of IndiGo are committed to paying full cognizance to the orders and will respond in a thoughtful and timely manner with appropriate measures.”

The penalty of Rs. 20.40 crore was determined by multiplying Rs. 30 lakh by the 68 days between December 5, 2025 and February 10, 2026, during which the revised FDTL rules were continuously violated. Rs. 22.20 crore is the whole fine, as per the reports.
