Pune: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Sunetra Pawar has taken a strong lead over her rivals in the Baramati Assembly bypoll, as counting of votes continued on Monday.
In another by-election, BJP candidate Akshay Kardile is leading in the Rahuri Assembly seat, according to early trends available on the Election Commission’s website.
By the end of the third round of counting, Pawar had secured 26,773 votes, maintaining a comfortable margin. Meanwhile, 21 out of the remaining 22 lesser-known candidates have so far failed to cross the 100-vote mark.
The Baramati Assembly constituency in Pune district recorded a voter turnout of 58.27 per cent.
