BMC Elections 2026 Results: Massive 1.83% Mumbai Voters Hit the NOTA Button
On January 15, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Elections were held. The BMC elections were held for the first time since 2017, so it was expected that a large number of people would participate. Shockingly, only 52 per cent of people stepped out to vote last Thursday, which numbers to 5,476,043. Now, the specific figures are out.
Many people selected the NOTA, or None of the Above, option during the civic elections. The election commission has revealed the data regarding the same and mentioned that at least 1.83% of Mumbaikars voted for NOTA. It means a total of 100,327 citizens opted for NOTA, which is quite a significant number.
Here’s the fascinating fact. The highest number of NOTA votes were recorded in the western suburbs from Dahisar to Bandra. The number was 1.9 per cent, which is 47,939. On the other hand, ward 226 in South Mumbai recorded the highest number of NOTA, with 1404 votes. The lowest NOTA numbers were recorded in War 185 (139), 135 (137), 136 (124), 138 (124), and 134 (76).
