BMC Civic Body Election Results 2026: What Do the Exit Polls Reveal?

A total of 23 Election Decision Officers have been appointed for the 227 municipal wards. For each Election Decision Officer’s office, a designated room and counting venue have been finalised.

The majority of the exit polls projected that the BJP and the Shinde-led Shiv Sena will cross the majority mark in the 227-member BMC. According to the Axis My India prediction, the ruling combine would win between 131 and 151 councillor seats. Moreover, the JVC exit poll projected 138 seats. The BJP has earned trust and support from the aspirational class, with 47 percent of voters aged between 18 and 25 and 41 percent in the 26 to 35 age group backing the ruling alliance.

On the other hand, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena and the Raj Thackeray-helmed Maharashtra Navnirman Sena were projected to secure only 56 to 68 seats. Meanwhile, the Congress, a constituent of the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi, contested the BMC elections independently and was projected to win between 12 and 16 seats with a vote share of about 13 per cent.

37 percent of unemployed voters backed the BJP and Shiv Sena, compared with 34 percent who supported the Shinde-led Sena. Nonetheless, the BJP and Shinde-led Shiv Sena alliance are expected to earn a landslide victory with 131 to 151 of the 227 seats in the civic body. Citizens now await the final results!
