A 7 year old boy, Ishank Singh, created history after competing in a 29 km swim across Palk Strait in 10 hours. Ishank Singh is from Ranchi and made everyone proud of his courageous achievement.

According to the reports, in 9 hours and 50 minutes, the young swimmer completed the stretch between Sri Lanka’s Talaimannar and India’s Dhanushkodi. On April 30, 2026, Ishank successfully completed the arduous swim at a young age of 7, while living in Ranchi’s Dhurwa neighborhood. He is currently the youngest person to swim the Palk Strait route.

Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, also praised his act and shared a tweet. Prior to making the attempt, the 7 year old is said to have practiced for many hours each day. He adhered to a rigorous training regimen and trained in Ranchi at Dhurwa Dam, as per the reports. His accomplishment has been lauded by the people of Jharkhand, who see it as a moment of pride for both the state and the nation.
