In Karnataka, 100 year old gold ornaments have been found while excavating a house. A family discovered gold jewellery and other items while excavating in preparation for building a home. Among the items discovered in the copper pot were jewellery weighing over 500 grams, such as a bangle, ring and bracelet.
When Ganagavva Basavaraja Ritti began building in order to renovate the home, it was found at a depth of five to six feet. Around Lakkundi, a significant city prior to the 14th century, there has also been evidence of Stone Age communities, according to the reports.
The Karnataka government undertook a treasure hunt on Friday after discovering gold jewellery during the construction of a home in the ancient town of Lakkundi, in the Gadag district, which is known for its architectural history. The government of Lakkundi chose to start a thorough excavation of the grounds surrounding the Kote Veerabhadreshwara Temple.
The project involves collaboration between the district administration, the Department of Tourism, the Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage and the Lakkundi Heritage Development Authority, as reported by PTI.
