Sardar 2 Box Office Collection: Karthi, SJ Suryah’s Spy Thriller Mints Rs 5.30 Cr on Opening Day

Karthi, Malavika Mohanan, and SJ Suryah’s spy thriller, “Sardar 2,” hit the theatrical screens on Sept 10, 2026. The film opened to mixed responses from fans and early viewers, with many praising Karthi’s performance and action sequences, particularly his ability to essay two distinct characters. Talking about its box office collection, the sequel to 2022’s Sardar minted Rs 4.50 crore net in India. 

Besides Karthi, Mohanan, and SJ Suryah, the film also boasts a stellar cast including Ashika Ranganath, Rajisha Vijayan, and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles. Meanwhile, strong word-of-mouth has been helping the film to gain momentum, while critics and industry trackers now wait for the weekend to roll over. Sardar 2 Box Office Collection: Day 1

On opening day, for the Tamil version, “Sardar 2” raked in Rs 2.60 crore by running across 2,548 shows with 22 percent occupancy. Talking about the Telugu version, it minted Rs 1.90 crore with 29.1 percent occupancy across 1,402 shows. As of day 2, the film has collected Rs 4.50 crore by running 3,950 shows. This brings total gross earnings to Rs 5.30 crore. Talking about the film’s overseas collection, it added Rs 1.50 crore, pushing its total worldwide gross collection to Rs 6.80 crore.

The second installment expands the spy universe established in the prequel, following spy Sardar’s origin story in flashback while his son, Vijay, faces the antagonist known as Black Dagger in the present. Bankrolled by Prince Pictures and IVY Entertainment, “Sardar 2” offers the perfect mix of espionage, action, and drama on the 70mm screen.
