On March 16, the makers of Battle of Galwan took to their official social media handles, announcing the title shift of Salman Khan’s war drama. Days after the Chinese Media claimed that the film distorts facts, the makers renamed the drama as Maatrubhumi by unveiling a gritty poster of the 60-year-old lead actor.
Based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash, the poster features Salman Khan peeking from behind a bloodied wooden log with a chain entangled on it. Here’s what the makers wrote along with the captivating poster.

Helmed by Apoorva Lakhia, the war drama stars Salman Khan in the lead role, with actor Chitrangda Singh playing a pivotal role opposite him. The film draws inspiration from the deadly clash between Indian and Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh’s Galwan Valley in June 2020.
Sharing a new poster of the Battle of Galwan, now titled Maatrubhumi, the actor wrote in the caption, “May War Rest in Peace.” Featuring Salman Khan in a rugged battlefield avatar, the fresh poster reveal reflects the intense imagery of the narrative. The makers aim to showcase the war more broadly, focusing on sacrifice, duty, and the higher human cost of war rather than depicting the military confrontation. The film is slated to release on April 17, 2026; however, reports suggest that the film might lock August 14 as its new release date.
