Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s film “Ranabaali” premiered on Oct. 16 to mixed reviews. Despite the strong competition from Rajinikanth’s “Jailer 2,” the period drama is making an effort to attract audiences. So far, it has had a modest start, earning over Rs 9 crore on its first day.
Helmed by Rahul Sankrityan, fans and movie buffs have praised the performances of the lead actors, while a few of them have disliked the film’s flat narrative and violence-heavy format. Here’s a closer look at its current box office collection.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, “Ranabaali” has collected Rs 9.25 crore net by running across 2,515 shows with 57 percent occupancy. Its gross collection stands at Rs 10.75 crore. Talking about the overseas collection, the film has added Rs 5.40 crore gross. This brings the film’s worldwide collection to Rs 16.15 crore gross.
As of day 2, 3:45 P.M. IST, the film has already earned Rs 3.25 crore net across 1,223 shows. Over the weekend, it is predicted that the film may escalate its momentum, which will be reflected positively in its gross collections. Set against the backdrop of the Madras Famine of 1876-78, the film is the first collaboration of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika after their wedding.
Reportedly, “Ranabaali” opened below Vijay Deverakonda’s last two major releases, “Kingdom” and “Liger,” which collected Rs 18 crore and Rs 16 crore net, respectively.
