Rajkummar Rao took to his social media and revealed that he has undergone a significant transformation for his two upcoming movies, namely Ujjwal Nikkam and ex-cricketer Sourav Ganguly biopics. After netizens began the trolling mill, the National Award-winning actor opened up, revealing the reason behind his weight gain. He reflected on his process-driven approach to performance and his commitment to authenticity. The caption of his post read, “My being is through my Art. Just finished shooting for my next Biopic #NIKAM and yes, it has demanded me to change physically which I love doing.”

Moreover, the actor stated that he prefers hard work over prosthetics. He believes in essaying a particular role through discipline and preparation. He wrote, “I’m not a believer in prosthetics as long as I can achieve the look through my hardwork which I’ve achieved in Nikam be it gaining weight or looking old (to play a certain age) or to make my hair thin which my hair stylist was very much against.” While drawing parallels to his previous on-screen performances, Rajkummar reminisced about the resistance he faced to alter his look. He added, “Everyone told me to not go half bald for BOSE also and to gain that much weight or to Not stop eating and lose so much weight for TRAPPED or to not behave like a visually impaired person even when cameras weren’t rolling during SRIKANTH.”

Rao has gained up to 10 kg for portraying the character of Nikam. He ate two pizzas, sweets, Aloo Parathas, Biryani, and everything that he loved. He refrained from using anything glam to get into the character. The actor expressed hope that the audience would notice the effort when the film hits the big screen. He added, “Hopefully when you will see the film which will be releasing soon you will be able to see all that hardwork in the film.” Though the makers have kept the details of Nikam under wraps, it is quite evident that it is going to be another performance-driven project in Rajkummar’s filmography.

The actor has finished shooting for Nikam and is already gearing up for his next big transformation. He is reportedly preparing to essay the role of former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly. The actor wrote, “And now it’s the transition phase and time to lose these extra kgs and get ready to slip into Ganguly mode. Our very own Dada.”

After a detailed clarification, Rajkummar concluded his note with gratitude and a promise. He said, “Will always work the hardest to engage you, entertain you through my work. Much Love.” Looking at his determination and love for doing films, Rao continues to reaffirm his position as one of Bollywood’s most dynamic and dedicated performers.
