Park Ji Hyun Becomes the First Korean Actress to Bag an International Emmy Award Nomination

Park Ji Hyun becomes the first-ever Korean actress to win an International Emmy Award nomination for her role in Netflix’s “You and Everything Else.” Aired in 2025, the South Korean actress essayed the role of Cheon Sang-yeon in the series, alongside Kim Go-eun, who played Ryu Eun-jung. 

The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the nominations for the 54th edition of the International Emmy Awards. It recognizes achievements in television programming that are originally produced and aired outside of the United States.

International Emmy Award 2026: Park Ji Hyun Earns a Best Actress Nomination 

For the International Emmy Award 2026, Park Ji Hyun will be competing with  Mona Mina Leon of Belgium’s “Holy Sh!t” (2025), Barbara Mori of Mexico’s “Lucca’s World” (2025), and Sheridan Smith of the United Kingdom’s “I Fought the Law” (2025).

Talking about “You and Everything Else,” the series chronicles the complicated relationship between two longtime friends, Eun-jung, portrayed by Kim Go-eun, and Sang-yeon, played by Park, from their teenage years through their 40s. The Netflix drama deals with the weighty subject of assisted dying as the pair navigate decades of conflict in their relationship. 

In the realm of Korea, Disney+ series “Hyper Knife,” starring Park Eun-bin and Sul Kyung-gu, is also nominated in the TV Movie/Mini-Series category. It was in 2022 that the historical drama “The King’s Affection” was hailed as the first Korean drama to win an International Emmy.

This year, the 2026 International Emmy Awards will be held on Nov. 23 in New York. The awards, also recognized as the Academy Awards, are considered one of the world’s three major television awards besides Canada’s Banff World Media Festival and Monaco’s Monte-Carlo Television Festival.
