Sivakarthikeyan Productions and Passion Studios took to X to celebrate the film’s achievement. They announced that the worldwide gross box-office collections had crossed Rs 50 crore within the first ten days, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming response.
After opening with Rs 2.65 crore net on February 27, the film witnessed a sudden jump in its earnings over the weekend. It raked in Rs 5 crore and Rs 6.15 crore on its first Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Surprisingly, during the subsequent weekdays, the movie’s collection didn’t decline below Rs 1.7 crore.
Set against a rural backdrop, the Thaai Kizhavi tells the story of Pavunuthaayi (Radikaa), a septuagenarian moneylender who was once fiercely independent but is now bedridden, and her three sons, who are running from pillar to post to a share of her wealth before she takes her last breath. Since its theatrical debut, comedy drama has received positive reactions from audiences and critics alike. Undoubtedly, word of mouth has helped the film to gain momentum.
