After the sad demise of the legendary Hollywood actor and martial artist Chuck Norris, the news of Nicholas Brendon once again sparked a wave of mourning. The 54-year-old actor essayed the role of the lovable, clownish sidekick on the hit television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which aired from 1997 to 2003. Additionally, the actor starred in Psycho Beach Party, Unholy, and Coherence, and played Kevin Lynch in Criminal Minds, which ran from 2005 to 2025. 

On Friday, March 20, a brief statement was shared on Brendon’s Instagram page. The actor passed away in his sleep. His family confirmed on social media that he died of natural causes.

In 2023, Nicholas Brendon revealed that he had suffered a heart attack, and he also had several surgeries for a syndrome related to nerve compression at the end of the spinal cord. The official statement read, “While it’s no secret that Nicholas had struggles in the past, he was on medications and treatment to manage his diagnosis, and he was optimistic about the future at the time of his passing. Our family asks for privacy during this time as we grieve his loss and celebrate the life of a man who lived with intensity, imagination, and heart. Thank you to everyone who has shown love and support.

Nicholas rose to fame for his portrayal of Xander Harris on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which aired between 1997 and 2003. The news of Brendon’s death comes a little over a year after the passing of Michelle Trachtenberg, another star of the original Buffy series.
