Among the most-talked-about outfits was that of Indian filmmaker Karan Johar. He made a striking appearance at the Met Gala wearing statement pieces from his own brand, Tyaani Jewellery, spotlighting a powerful new narrative, proving that high design, heritage craftsmanship, and accessibility can coexist without compromise.

Set against an opulent, art-forward ensemble inspired by the grandeur of Raja Ravi Varma’s visual storytelling, Johar’s jewellery became more than an accessory. Each piece worn by Johar reflects this ethos. The multi-gemstone necklace, inspired by India’s royal legacy, brings together rich emerald greens, ruby tones, and intricate detailing.

  1. Isha Ambani

Isha Ambani delivered one of the most luxurious looks of the night in a sculpted Gaurav Gupta saree. Her saree was the perfect blend of a modern silhouette with traditional draping while featuring a jewellery-infused blouse. With over 1800 carats of diamonds, along with emeralds, polki, and kundan, the look transformed into wearable heritage. The handwoven gold tissue saree added a historic touch, making her appearance feel both royal and artistic. Interestingly, what she wore was among her mother’s collection.

  1. Manish Malhotra

Popular fashion designer Manish Malhotra stole the spotlight by emphasizing not just design, but the hands and stories behind it. He donned a custom black velvet ensemble featuring an architectural cape, designed as a tribute to Mumbai. The elaborate cape was crafted for over 960 hours by 50 artisans, with their signatures embroidered into the design.
