Sunny Deol’s Border 2 calmed down Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar’s box office dominance of over fifty days. No sooner was the box office storm under control than Rani Mukerji’s Mardaani 3, Jaaved Jaaferi’s Mayasabha- The Hall of Illusion, and Vijay Sethupathi’s Gandhi Talks hit the theatres on January 30. Out of the three, Rani Mukerji’s Mardaani 3 is leading the charts, followed by Gandhi Talks and then Mayasabha- The Hall of Illusion.

Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, the psychological thriller film Mayasabha performed poorly at the box office. Take a closer look at the day 1 box office collections.

Mayasabha-The Hall of Illusion Box Office Collection Vs Mardaani 3 Vs Border 2

At the top, ranks Rani Mukerji’s hard-hitting cop-action drama Mardaani 3. It had collected Rs 4.56 crore worldwide and Rs 3.80 crore net domestically on day 1 of its theatrical release. Next comes the silent film, Gandhi Talks, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Aditi Rao Hydari, which minted Rs 1.75 crore. Lastly, – The Hall of Illusion struggles while raking in Rs 13 lakhs gross and Rs 12 lakhs net.

Mayasabha follows the story of a broken former producer and his son, who are drawn into a tense night of deception when two cunning intruders arrive to chase a hidden fortune. As greed, memory, and past wounds collide, trust shatters, and dark secrets surface. The makers hoped that the fantasy thriller theme and one-of-a-kind narrative would draw audiences to the theatres, but unfortunately, it didn’t turn out as expected. Alongside Jaaved Jaaferi, the film also stars Mohammad Samad, Veena Jamkar, and Deepak Damle in key roles.

The big competition from other releases is expected to be the reason behind its poor box office collection on day 1. Not just the Hindi releases, but the fantasy film is also clashing with Biju Menon and Joju George’s Valathu Vashathe Kallan. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the Malayalam film minted Rs 1.1 crore on day 1. Mayasabha is, indeed, struggling to captivate people’s attention among the newly and previously released Border 2 and Dhurandhar.
