Tamil star Thalapathy Vijay announced his retirement from films at the grand song launch in Malaysia. On January 3, 2026, the makers unveiled the trailer of Jana Nayagan in multiple languages, including Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu. Directed by H Vinoth, the most anticipated film of 2026 features Vijay essaying the role of Vetri Kondan, a character portrayed as both feared and revered. Within a few minutes of the trailer release, fans, media, and critics sparked conversations around the actor’s perfectly crafted send-off from the entertainment industry.

Jana Nayagan Trailer: What to Expect from Thalapathy Vijay’s Last Film?

The trailer begins with Vijay’s Vetri Kondan, a man of action who possesses a strong moral compass. His character revolves around a combination of intense combat sequences sprinkled with emotional restraint. The 2-minute and 52-second trailer shows him in a grounded as well as a violent avatar. In one of the scenes, his young daughter interrogates him about whether he is a “Superman,” to which he replies that he is an ordinary man whose actions may appear extraordinary to others.

As the trailer moves ahead, it shows Vetri training his daughter and encouraging her to join the armed forces. Gradually, the trailer turns dark when she is abducted by a shadowy antagonist essayed by Bobby Deol. The scene marks the beginning of a violent confrontation between Vetri and him. Deol then invites Vijay to “play a game”, hinting at a broader and sinful plan that Vijay attempts to stop through force and unwavering determination.

The overly dramatic trailer is packed with gunfire sequences and smartly choreographed stunts. Additionally, it carries a significant political undertone, driven by leadership, responsibility, and public service. The trailer concludes with Vijay addressing the camera directly, declaring his resolve to move forward without retreat. It somehow mirrors the actor’s real-life transition from films to politics. Fans are eagerly waiting to see Thalapathy Vijay on the silver screen for one last time.
