The Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) takes place from October 30 to November 2 this year. It will be held at the Tibetan Children’s Village in Upper Dharamshala. It is the 14th edition of the film festival and will feature some of India’s most respected movies. The film fest is known for bringing solid stories and global cinema to the Himalayan foothills. The line-up for this year also includes Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound.

As mentioned above, the line-up for DIFF is now out, and Homebound is the opening night film. It stars Ishaan Khattar and Vishal Jethwa in the lead roles and is also India’s official entry to the Oscars. Some other Indian films that are in the line-up are Alaav and Sabar Bonda.

The Dharamshala International Film Festival has continued its partnership with the Sydney Film Festival this year as well. The SFF will present two Australian movies – Lesbian Space Princess and The Wolves Always Come at Night. This year, DIFF will also have special sessions, which include a conversation with filmmaker Kiran Rao. She will be speaking about her cinematic journey and the evolving landscape of independent cinema in India. The other session includes ‘Masterclass With Actor Adil Hussain. Legendary Russian director Andrey Tarkovsky’s son, Andrey A. Tarkovsky, will also be a part of the film fest and talk about his father’s legacy and influence on world cinema.

The other line-ups for DIFF are: I, The Song, Kneecap, Orwell 2+2=5, Romeria, Cutting Through Rocks, Alaav, 100 Sunset, and The Love That Remains. The film fest will close with Anuparna Roy’s Songs of Forgotten Trees. Roy had won the Best Director (Orizzonti) Award this year at the Venice Film Festival. She will also host the India premiere of Full Place, directed by Tannishtha Chatterjee.
