Godzilla vs Kong Actress Kaylee Hottle Passes Away in Car Crash at 18, Community Mourns Loss

The deaf actor, Kaylee Hottle, who essayed a major role in Godzilla vs Kong and its 2024 sequel, Godzilla vs Kong: The New Empire, passed away on July 21 in a car accident. The 18-year-old’s sad demise sparked a wave of shock across the film fraternity and communities. The news of her untimely death was first shared by her father, Joshua Hottle, through a Facebook video and was later confirmed by the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin.

For the unversed, the Hottle family suffers from a hearing disablity. Through a live Facebook stream, her father shared the news using American Sign Language (ASL). The name of the video is “I am taking a flight that I never would like to take.”

Hearing-impaired Kaylee Hottle portrayed the role of a young orphan named Jia in the 2021 blockbuster and reprised the role in the 2024 sequel Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Her father, Joshua Hottle, posted a video statement via Facebook, using American Sign Language to confirm details of her death. According to WBAL TV, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened at around 2:52 am on Windsor Road in Ijamsville. A 19-year-old man was driving a Honda Accord when the car went to the right side of the road and crashed into a culvert. Police officials in Frederick, Maryland, shared that “excessive speed” was believed to be a factor in the single-vehicle crash on Tuesday morning.

The Texas School for the Deaf, where Hottle attended, took to its Instagram handle, remembering the young actress. The caption read, “It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news that one of our TSD seniors, Kaylee Hottle, tragically passed away yesterday in a car accident in Frederick, Maryland. Our hearts are with Kaylee’s family, friends, classmates, and everyone who knew and loved her during this incredibly difficult time.”

“At this time, we have very limited information and ask that everyone respect the privacy of Kaylee’s family and refrain from sharing or speculating about the circumstances surrounding the accident. We recognise this loss will have a significant impact on our TSD community. Please keep Kaylee’s loved ones in your thoughts as we mourn this tremendous loss together.”

Born in 2007, Kaylee Hottle started her acting career by getting featured in advertisements. Apart from Godzilla x Kong, she also played a small role in the Prime Video series Magnum PI. All in all, the actress has left the entire community and film industry across the world devastated. Condolences have also been pouring in on several social media platforms.
