It is no news that Tom Cruise has a massive fan following. Currently, what’s buzzing is his upcoming film titled Digger, set to hit the theatrical screens on October 2, 2026. Today, the makers dropped a gripping trailer of the film, leaving the audience awestruck. The Hollywood actor has been spotted stepping into an unrecognizable role as oil baron Digger Rockwell. The dark comedy, the Warner Bros film, is Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s first English-language feature since The Revenant.
Besides Cruise, the film also boasts a stellar cast including Sandra Huller, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, Riz Ahmed and Emma D’Arcy in pivotal roles. Here’s what to expect from the film.
The 2-minute-38-second trailer features Tom Cruise as Digger Rockwell. He appears to have a thick Southern accent, a pot belly, and thinning white hair fashioned in an unconvincing comb-over. Centred on a wild new larger-than-life character for Cruise, he essays the character in a non-action zone for the first time in yonks, donning all kinds of prosthetics.
In an interview with Variety, the lead actor shared, “Alejandro took several days during which he was just reading the script to me and I’m listening to everything that’s in his mind, so that I can understand that, and then I know how to contribute to it, and bring that collaboration together.” He further expressed that he had never done something that challenged him and Alejandro, the two-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker.
Earlier in April, Cruise unveiled a sneak peek of Digger at CinemaCon 2026, expressing excitement about the promising start for the film industry. After months, the trailer was released, and fans can’t help but wait until October to witness the magic of the film on the silver screens.
