Chinese Actor Jin Ze Passes Away at 33, Audience and Industry Shocked

On June 4, Chinese television actor Jin Ze, whose real name was Zhang Jiawei, passed away at 33, leaving the world in a state of shock. The actor rose to fame through a hit romance drama, including Begin Again and Forget You Remember Me. As confirmed by the agency Shengshi Guangnian Culture Co., Ltd, on Saturday, the actor was found dead at his residence in Hangzhou. The agency shared a statement announcing the sudden demise, though they kept the cause of his demise tightly under wraps.

The statement shared by the agency read, “We announce with profound sorrow that our contracted actor Jin Ze (Zhang Jiawei) passed away at his home in Hangzhou on June 4, 2026”. His sad demise left fans and co-stars shocked and saddened by the unexpected news. The statement further read, “Jin Ze, formerly known as Zhang Jiawei, was born on January 30, 1993, in Weihai, Shandong Province. He was an outstanding young actor and model… We express our deepest grief and extend our sincere condolences to his family.” To shield his parents or immediate family members from public intrusion, the agency didn’t share any details. 

As reported by the Chinese News website Global Times, the agency requested privacy for the bereaved family, urging social media users and media to refrain from circulating unverified claims or engaging in online speculation. The Chinese fashion model and actor graduated from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and began his career as a model before transitioning into acting. His absence will be deeply felt for years to come.
