Cannes 2026: Alia Bhatt Drops Jaws in Ivory Saree Draped with a Twist

We don’t have to tell you that Alia Bhatt is grabbing all eyeballs with her glamorous appearances at the Cannes Film Festival 2026, starting right from May 12, 2026. After her hand-painted and peach couture gown sparked conversations, the actress yet again stunned the audience while rocking a custom ivory silk saree-gown, in which she felt unapologetically filmy. Carrying an umbrella, the actress dropped some serious fashion cues.

At the inauguration of the Bharat Pavilion, the B’town actress paid homage to Indian heritage by embracing voguish fashion. Her ensemble featured a structured corset-style bodice and a plunging neckline. What made it a masterpiece was the saree-inspired drape. Thanks to the cascading silk fabric, which pleated well. She wore it off the shoulders like a classic saree pallu. With a dramatic train, her glamorous look was instantly elevated. The intricate floral beadwork on ivory silk gave the overall ensemble a soft and romantic flush. 

Bhatt managed to strike a perfect balance between traditional elegance and contemporary international style. Not to forget, her jewelry, including a nose ring, earrings, and bindi, helped her unleash some desi vibes at Cannes 2026. 

The actress joined filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker at the Bharat Pavilion to unveil the official poster and creative concept for the 57th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Additionally, the special occasion marked the launch of the India Film Guide, an initiative crafted to position India as a preferred international filming hub and strengthen cross-border collaborations in cinema. Talking about Indian storytelling, she shared, “IFFI has always been a platform that celebrates the diversity of our stories. Being part of this unveiling is an honour, as we invite the world to experience the magic of Indian filmmaking in Goa this November.“
