Basuri Chokshi hand-painted her gown, which was later crafted into a corseted ensemble by Yash Patil’s brand That Antiquepiece.

A muralist and painter, Basuri Chokshi, hailing from Ahmedabad, proved that fashion is an art. Her structured corset ball gown was not only the talk of the town, but her less is more mantra stole the show. An interior designer by training, Basuri spent her initial years looking at siloes and structures. 

Basuri Chokshi took to her Instagram feed to share more details of the breathtaking art she created for the global icon. She wrote, “This piece is a hand-painted homage to the French Riviera—inspired by its sunlit coastlines, soft lavender fields, native botanicals, and the effortless romance woven into its landscape. I wanted to capture not just its beauty, but its feeling—where land, sea, and sky melt into one poetic rhythm! Each brushstroke reflects the Riviera’s timeless elegance, cinematic charm, and quiet sophistication. More than a landscape, this became my way of translating a place, an emotion, and a memory onto textile—transforming fabric into a wearable canvas.”

Bhatt’s ensemble was a custom, full-circle ball gown by designer Yash Patil’s label, That Antique Piece. Every sweep of the brush on the delicate silk fabric is an ode to nature and the botanical details of the Riviera. The intricate beauty and wonders of the natural world speak volumes, while the soft palette demands nothing but attention. The hand-painted ensemble complemented Alia Bhatt’s charming aura. Talking about her minimal accessories and subtle makeup, the mom of one added a more poetic touch to her attire. All in all, the wearable art form perfectly blended vintage glamour, modern couture, and a deeply personal detailing seamlessly.
