After months of building excitement and curiosity, the filmmakers were set to unveil the rom-com’s trailer today in Mumbai at 3 pm. However, Thursday afternoon came bearing sad news. The launch event was cancelled at the last minute due to some technical issues, leaving fans disappointed. But there’s something more to it.

Helmed by David Dhawan, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is headlined by Varun Dhawan opposite Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde. After cancelling the trailer launch at the last minute, the makers issued a statement on social media attributing the cancellation to a “technical glitch. Reportedly, the reason for the abrupt cancellation may be linked to an ongoing legal dispute.
For the unversed, the rom-com altered its release schedule multiple times. Earlier, it was slated to hit the cinema halls on June 5, after the announcement of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups to release on June 4, the makers shifted its release to June 12. Later, it was moved to its original schedule, June 5.
As per reports, producer Vashu Bhagnani, who had bankrolled Biwi No 1 with director David Dhawan, filed a lawsuit seeking to prevent the alleged unauthorised use of his films and songs. To refresh your memory, the film also draws its title from the song Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, from David Dhawan’s 1999 comedy Biwi No 1, starring Karisma Kapoor, Salman Khan, and Sushmita Sen.
