Sunny Deol’s Border 2 has finally kick-started its box office juggernaut, starting from January 23, 2026. Surprisingly, it became the second biggest Republic Day opener, denting Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar dominance. On the first day itself, Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty’s war epic collected Rs 36 crore gross and Rs 30 crore net across 6,078 shows. The strong market penetration across multiple regions proves that the war drama has performed well since its release.
According to Sacnilk reports, the film saw a 37 percent occupancy. Additionally, the Border sequel performed excellently in Delhi NCR, UP, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Bihar. Take a closer look at the box office numbers.
The strong box office openings of Border 2 indicate that the Sunny Deol starrer may aim to hit the Rs 100 crore club in its first three days. Since the Republic Day is around the corner, the film may earn well on its first Monday.
By collecting Rs 30 crore net in India, the war drama broke the record of Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna’s Dhurandhar, which opened with Rs 27 crore. Talking about its pre-sales, the 1971 India-Pakistan war drama crossed Rs 12 crore, selling over four lakh tickets in India. The advance booking numbers were also higher than Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, the film is expected to hail as the 2026’s biggest opener. All in all, the tentpole release has lived up to expectations and garnered positive reviews from critics and fans. Besides Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, Border 2 features Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, and Anya Singh in pivotal roles.
