While everybody was eyeing Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 trailer to be attached with Sunny Deol’s Border 2, the trailer reveal of Taaapsee Pannu’s Assi came out as a surprise. Slated for release on February 20, 2026, the courtroom drama helmed by Anubhav Sinha is yet another most anticipated film of the year. 

On Friday, January 23, 2026, Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty’s war epic hit the theatres. Following its release, the makers of Assi unveiled a hard-hitting motion poster featuring Taapsee Pannu in an ink-soaked avatar. Take a closer look!

Taapsee Pannu’s ‘Assi’ First Look Unveiled: Know Release Date And What to Expect

Taapsee Pannu marks her return to the silver screen with Assi, an investigative courtroom drama. She took to Instagram and offered the first glimpse of the much-awaited film to her fans and followers. The short video showcases a girl running on the railway tracks, desperately trying to escape as three men chase her. The motion poster concludes with Taapsee Pannu smeared in blue ink. 

The hard-hitting poster flashes “An Urgent Watch”, piquing interest among the audience. The actress captioned the post saying, “It’s been long… Long since we normalised this….See you in court….I mean the theatres… #Assi – an urgent watch, only in cinemas from 20th Feb.” The promotional campaign for the movie began earlier this week with a series of text-only posters that read: “Eighty. Per day. Every day.” Such text-based posters revealed the film’s title and release date alone, leaving fans wondering.

Assi is a relentless investigative thriller that follows an intense, power-packed courtroom drama. The film will be confronting uncomfortable questions about justice, accountability, and societal silence. Though director Anubhav Sinha has explored the themes in his previous work, Assi comes with a fresh take.  

Alongside Taapsee Pannu, the film also features Kani Kusruti, Revathy, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in pivotal roles. Reportedly, the movie may also include special appearances by Naseeruddin Shah, Supriya Pathak, and Seema Bhargava.
