Veteran British actor Anthony Head left for heavenly abode at the age of 72. His sad demise sparked a wave of mourning across the film fraternity. Best known for his roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Ted Lasso, passed away due to complications from pneumonia. On Friday, his daughters Daisy and Emily shared a statement with the Press Association in the U.K. It read, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our extraordinary father, Anthony Head. He passed away peacefully of complications due to pneumonia, surrounded by his family.”
For the unversed, the Hollywood personality was loved for essaying the role of Rupert Giles, the mentor and father figure to Buffy Summers, in all seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He also appeared in Jack Ryan, Bridgerton, and Ted Lasso. Over the years, Head built a long and successful career in television and theatre.

Anthony Head’s sad demise has left the entire entertainment industry mourning. His daughters shared, “It has been, and forever will be, an honour and a privilege to be his daughters, and to have witnessed firsthand the impact both he and his work have had on so many.” They also stressed the fact that they know how dearly he will be missed by friends, colleagues, and fans of the show he was in. He loved his job very much and always considered himself incredibly lucky, they said in the statement. Several actors, such as Sarah Michelle Gellar, James Marsters, and David Boreanaz, shared tributes on social media.
Before stepping onto the path of becoming a television star, Head worked extensively on stage. He was spotted in productions of Godspell, Chess, Peter Pan, and Rocky Horror Show Live. Not just that, the actor also rose to fame in the United Kingdom through a popular series of Nescafé commercials that aired between 1987 and 1993. All in all, his absence will be deeply felt.
