After Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, Sunny Deol’s Border 2 Banned in Gulf Countries Over India-Pakistan Theme
A few weeks ago, Ranveer Singh and Akshayee Khanna’s spy-thriller Dhurandhar was banned across Gulf countries, including Oman and Qatar. Similar to Aditya Dhar’s movie, released on December 5, 2025, the film Border 2, starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, has reportedly been banned. The reason behind the ban is the war drama’s theme. Dhurandhar and Anurag Singh’s Border 2 is set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan tension.
Border 2 has hit the theatres on January 23, 2026, and is expected to perform well at the box office. However, according to media reports, it has been banned across six Gulf countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, over ‘anti-Pakistan’ content.
Border 2 Banned in Gulf Countries
Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty’s Border 2 has hit cinema theatres. The war-action drama is set against the backdrop of India-Pakistan 1971 war. Due to its anti-Pakistan content, the movie is reportedly banned in the Gulf belt. Backed by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta under the banners of T-Series Films and JP Films, the drama explores the operations of the Indian Armed Forces, comprising the Army, Air Force, and Navy.
Unfortunately, like Dhurandhar, Border 2 has been refrained from its release in the UAE/GCC belt. Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar was banned in countries like Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. However, the ban did affect the movie’s overall collection, and it excelled at the ticket window. The absence from the Gulf may result in an estimated overseas loss of nearly Rs 90 crore, or around $10 million. Nonetheless, the makers of Sunny Deol’s Border 2 hope that they too remain unaffected.
