72nd National Film Awards Complete Winners List: Rajkummar Rao, Dhanush, Mammootty Win Big

The 72nd National Film Awards were held on Saturday, July 18, 5.30 PM IST, at the National Media Centre in New Delhi. Through a press conference, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced the results. Films received certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) which were released between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024, and were eligible for consideration. 

Malayalam superstar Mammootty took home the honor of Best Actor for Bramayugam and shared the award with Kartik Aaryan for Chandu Champion. While Dhanush won a Special Mention for his performance in Captain Miller which also bagged the Best Feature Film Promoting National, Social and Environmental Values. Additionally, he was recognised as director, with his directorial venture, Raayan, winning the Best Tamil Film award. Bollywood star Rajkummar Rao won the title of Best Hindi Feature Film honour for Tushar Hiranandani’s Srikanth. Yami Gautam was applauded for headlining the political thriller Article 370.

The winners are selected by an 11-member jury headed by acclaimed filmmaker Jayaraj, who served on the National Film Awards jury in 2012. For the year 2024, nearly 400 films were released. Here’s the complete winner list.
