Saturday came bearing good news! Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first look of the epic fantasy adventure, Children of Blood and Bone. It boasts a stellar cast, including Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg, Tosin Cole, Academy Award nominee Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, Zackary Momoh, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Academy Award nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor, Academy Award winner Regina King, Idris Elba, and Academy Award winner Viola Davis. 

Helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Gina Prince-Bythewood and based on Tomi Adeyemi’s globally bestselling novel, Children of Blood and Bone is one of the most-anticipated films of 2027.

July 18, the makers of Children of Blood and Bone dropped the first glimpse of the stellar cast. It stars Regina King, Viola Davis, and Idris Elba in the lead roles. The epic fantasy is set in the world of Orïsha, where a young woman embarks on a quest to reclaim the magic that was violently taken from her people. She and her brother team up with the king’s daughter and son to resist his brutal rule and fight back against the oppression they face.

In a nutshell, it is a sweeping tale of courage, destiny, and the fight to reclaim a lost legacy. Children of Blood and Bone is set to bring Tomi Adeyemi’s beloved fantasy world to the big screen on an epic scale next year. 

For the unversed, the book Children of Blood and Bone was a smashing success, and two sequels followed: Children of Virtue and Vengeance (2019) and Children of Anguish and Anarchy (2024). Combined, the Legacy of Orïsha trilogy was on the New York Times Best Seller list for 175 weeks.
