The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) will be held twice a year from 2026. This reform aims to more flexibility for the students. It also focused on reducing the exam pressure. Now from next year, students can give exams twice, allowing them to appear for the two sessions. The state level entrance test focuses on the admissions to engineering, pharmacy, architecture, agriculture, and other professional courses in Maharashtra. The entrance test will follow the JEE exam format.

The two sessions’ scores will be considered for the admissions. The changes contribute to giving flexibility in issues such as travel, illness and exam pressure. Following a review conference on the CET test on November 11, Chandrakant Patil, Minister of Higher and Technical Education, informed about the exams.

Chandrakant Patil posted on his official social media handle on X that the tests for PCM (Physics Chemistry Mathematics), PCB (Physics Chemistry Biology), and MBA courses will be held twice annually. The first test will take place in April 2026, he added, and the second will be in May 2026.

The dual attempt model aims to give students more fairness and versatility. The new system will give candidates another chance if they don’t succeed on their first try or want to improve their grades.

Reports suggest that the reform will also apply to the MBA/MMS CET entrance test for graduate management courses. The MBA/MMS CET, which is presently administered in April of every year, will soon be given twice yearly, with the first session anticipated to begin earlier in the academic cycle to account for the dual exam format.

The MHT CET (PCM Group) test took place between April 19 and April 27, 2025, while the MHT CET (PCB Group) test was conducted between April 9 and April 17. On June 16, the MHT CET (PCM Group) results were released while, on June 17, the PCB results were released.
