After releasing the date sheet for the 10th and 12th board exams for 2026, the CBSE has issued a reminder to all schools affiliated to the CBSE that the 11th class registration number is compulsory to provide for the JEE Main 2026 applicants. The notice was issued after complaints were received by the parents and students to the national educational board.

On Thursday, the CBSE sent out an official reminder to schools to make sure this procedure is not overlooked. In the Class 10, 12 Board Examinations Date Sheet issued by the Board vide circular dated 30.10.2025, it was mentioned that NTA will require the registration number of Class 12 students to be filled in the JEE Main application. As a result, the official notification requested that all schools give their students applying for JEE Main their Class 12 registration number, the notice added released by the CBSE.

The notice further stated that, notwithstanding the aforementioned instructions, many students and parents have petitioned the Board with complaints that Class 12 students taking the JEE 2026 exam are not receiving their Class 12 registration numbers from their respective schools. The Board is looking after this matter very seriously. It is once again emphasized that schools must always provide the Class 12 registration number for pupils who are taking the JEE Exam 2026.

Previously, the Board published a notification in which it requested that every JEE candidate include their Class 11 registration information in the application form itself. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will be able to plan the JEE Main exams using the registration number without conflicting with the CBSE board exams.
