Uday Ruddaraju, an Indian origin tech executive, has been appointed as OpenAI’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Compute. Uday Ruddaraju announced this news on LinkedIn, where he reflected on his first year at OpenAI, calling it an incredibly rewarding experience.
In his post he wrote, “We are on a mission to build the world’s largest compute footprint so frontier AI can reach everyone and every workflow. We have a very exciting compute ramp and roadmap coming up. There is a lot to build across large scale distributed systems, hardware, manufacturing and data centre builds spanning civil, mechanical and electrical engineering. We are hiring exceptional people across the stack.”
According to the reports, prior to obtaining an internship at Amazon Web Services while still a student, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT) in Hyderabad. Later, he moved to the United States to study Computer Science at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
He has worked for a number of leading tech firms throughout his career. Before joining xAI as the Head of Infrastructure Engineering, he worked at eBay from 2013 to 2018 and then Robinhood.
