We order food from online delivery apps like Zomato and Swiggy, but now your food orders will get costlier. Now, food delivery apps Zomato and Swiggy are raising their platform fees as per the reports.
Food purchases made online could now be a bit more expensive. Swiggy has made a similar change, raising the fee that consumers pay with each order, just days after Zomato increased its platform charges. The platform charge for Swiggy has increased from Rs. 14.99 to Rs. 17.58 per order (inclusive of GST). This is a rise of about 17%.
The updated charge will help the business operate and maintain the Swiggy platform, according to a message now displayed on the app at checkout, which the company has told its users.
Food delivery bills include a small yet expanding component called platform fees. Although they may seem insignificant individually, frequent users end up paying a lot more over time.
These fees are frequently justified by businesses as essential to pay for technology, app maintenance and overall operations. The most recent rise means that customers will see somewhat higher bills for each purchase. The increase may not appear significant, but several purchases might have a measurable impact on monthly expenditures.
