We get our PF share for future retirement funds as we start our work. However, it is essential to have a shared UAN number if you have several EPF accounts. We will discuss in this article how these accounts were combined under a single UAN.

Why is this Merger Important?

The balances of previous PF accounts cannot be transferred to a newly active account automatically; an employee must submit a request for a transfer to the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). This merger’s main benefit is that it gives you access to all of your retirement funds in one location, which in turn helps avoid difficulties when making withdrawals.

Steps to Combine all Accounts under Single a UAN:

  • Visit the official EPFO website. Use your UAN and password to log in. The One Member and One EPF Account link is located under the online services tab.
  • This link will open a new window with your personal information and the EPF account of the current employer, to which the transfer is intended to be credited.
  • Complete every necessary field, such as the registered phone number and UAN. Choose the Generate OTP option. Enter the one time password on the portal for verification purposes as soon as it appears on your registered mobile phone number. When finished, you’ll be sent to a new window that asks for details about the EPF accounts you want to combine. Click the Submit button after checking the statement box.
  • Your current employer would then need to approve the merger request. The request will be processed by EPFO and the old EPF accounts will be combined with the most recent one after this permission has been granted.
