The costs are rising and so the lifestyle is changing dramatically. Now, a video is going viral where a woman explains her cost of living in Tokyo, Japan. She explains Rs. 2.9 lakh expenses.

An Indian woman has become popular after admitting that her family of three spends about Rs. 2.9 lakh, that is 500,000 yen each month, to maintain their way of life in Tokyo. The cost of living in Tokyo has been compared to that of several major Indian cities in a comprehensive online discussion that her thorough expense breakdown has started.

The woman described her monthly expenditures in a video uploaded by Sunakshi Sharma, noting that rent and utilities alone cost 200,000 yen, about Rs. 1.16 lakh, which is the biggest item in their budget.

Their son’s daycare costs 100,000 yen, about Rs. 58,000 per month, making childcare another major expense. Between 100,000 and 150,000 yen, which is about Rs. 58,000 and Rs. 87,000, is the cost of food, with Indian groceries being the majority. In Japan, common ingredients are priced highly, she said.

The cost of transportation and automobiles, which includes fuel, tolls and maintenance, ranges from 50,000 to 100,000 yen, which is about Rs. 29,000 to Rs. 58,000.

Many are responding to her video by contrasting the luxury and lifestyle options and some have even commented that reality hits when we actually live there and experience the lifestyle.
