Hyderabad Founder Recalls Hiring Taxi Driver As His First Employee 10 Years Ago, Now He Is…
A recent viral story has inspired many. It is a story of a founder where he recalled hiring his first employee, who was a taxi driver. He has shared a LinkedIn post where he describes how the decision changed his life. After being offered a chance ten years ago, a founder from Hyderabad has disclosed how a cab driver with no corporate experience rose to become one of his company’s most respected employees.
Sravanth Gajula shared that he had hired a class 9 pass cab driver to be the company’s first employee. He added that the individual lacked English language abilities, corporate experience and a resume that would have drawn in a traditional hiring manager.
He said that many people had questioned his choice. He did, however, claim to have witnessed his honesty and desire to succeed. According to the founder, due to his hard work, he thus provided him with meaningful and influential work, enrolled him in spoken English classes and handled him as if he would develop. Additionally, he said that the workers not only grew but also went above and beyond what was expected of them. After 10 years, the ex-taxi driver is now the company’s head of procurement and is in charge of pan-India duties, according to Gajula.
Gajula stated that individuals frequently discuss company culture, values and placing people first while thinking back on the experience. He clarified that in practice, this entails hiring someone the globe may have missed, making an investment in them before they are deemed prepared and giving them a seat at the table before seeing them succeed. Finally, he said, “If you are a founder or a leader reading this, your team will become who you believe them to be.”
