Anthropic Appoints Indian Origin Novartis CEO Vas Narasimhan to Board of Directors
Ahead of its potential IPO, Novartis CEO Vas Narasimhan joined Anthropic board, as per the reports. The Anthropic Long Term Benefit Trust, an autonomous regulatory agency established to ensure that the firm strikes a balance between its commercial aspirations and its wider mission for the public good, has been named Narasimhan.
Members of the Trust, in particular, have no financial interest in the business. This appointment gives Trust backed directors a majority on Anthropic’s board.
Narasimhan joins a prestigious group that includes industry leaders like Reed Hastings and Jay Kreps, as well as co-founders Dario Amodei and Daniela Amodei, says reports. His appointment follows the addition of Chris Liddell earlier this year and comes as Anthropic continues to improve its governance framework.
Who is Vas Narasimhan?
Narasimhan received his science degree from prestigious universities around the globe, including a biological sciences degree from the University of Chicago and an MD from Harvard.
In addition to his executive management, Narasimhan is a well-known figure in the medical and political spheres. He belongs to the Council on Foreign Relations and is an elected member of the US National Academy of Medicine. He is a member of the boards of trustees for the University of Chicago and the Harvard Medical School board of fellows. He is still a member of the board of directors of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), where he previously served as chairman.
