Wildfires in France, Spain Force Thousands to Flee After Temperatures Reach Extreme Levels

Thousands of residents, tourists have been evacuated from the areas where deadly wildfires have been spread due to the extreme heat conditions in France and Spain, according to reports.

Hundreds of people were forced to escape the high end Cap Ferret peninsula in the midst of the summer vacation season in France as fires raged through thick pine woods close to the esteemed wine region of Bordeaux, consuming an area that was nearly twice the size of Manhattan, according to reports.

With some people in Madrid awakening to the odor of smoke, many fires were also out of control less than 100 kilometers from the city. The fires, which have been fueled by wind and temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius in certain areas, have resulted in the deaths of three firefighters and the displacement of around 50,000 residents in both nations, as per the international media reports.

Thousands of vacationers on the Atlantic coast in the southwest have been ordered to evacuate their campgrounds and vacation houses by French authorities as firefighters supported by planes dropping water fought to put out the fires. Over 40,000 individuals have been evacuated in the area to date.
