Trade, Defence Ties: Know All About Russia’s President Putin’s Visit To India; Commencing From December 4
With a series of agreements covering trade, healthcare and economic cooperation due to be signed, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s trip to New Delhi on December 4–5, his first in four years, will mark a renewed effort to speed up economic collaboration between India and Russia.
For improved ties in the future, Putin’s two day trip to India is noteworthy. It will concentrate on increasing Indian engineering exports to Russia, expanding Russian imports of Indian food and medicinal goods and fostering cooperation in digital services. These discussions are consistent with the ambitious bilateral objective of reaching USD 100 billion in trade by 2030, according to reports.
The Russian President Vladimir Putin’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, stated that while certain nations are attempting to erect obstacles in the way of commerce between India and Russia, the two countries are working to overcome the challenge and boost bilateral trade to $100 billion over the next five years, according to the media reports.
The potential acquisition of at least two squadrons of the Su-57 fighter jets may also be discussed by India and Russia. “Su-57 is the best plane in the world. Su-57 will be on the agenda,” Peskov stated earlier. The visit is likely to focus heavily on reducing the growing trade deficit, as well as the continuing conversation about cooperation in the fields of defence, security, space and nuclear technology.
