London Stock Exchange to Launch ‘Round The Clock’ Trading Next Year: What to Know
The London Stock Exchange announces plans for overnight trading. According to the reports, the LSE will be launching ’round the clock’ trading from 2027. The LSE on Tuesday announced that it is planning to launch LSE 24, which will be a night-time trading site, on the first of 2027.
This new exchange will operate separately from its main market and will offer access to exchange traded products such as funds tracking the UK or US stock market at the start.
What is the LSE 24?
The LSE 24 will give global investors greater flexibility to respond to market events, access liquidity across time zones and manage risk. The company has said in a statement.
What are the timings of the LSE 24?
This new exchange will operate from 5 pm to 7.50 am London time, with a 30 minute break between 6.30 pm and 7 pm. This pause is to apply to the end of day process. The important thing to know is that the main market will continue to operate under its standard hours, which are 8 am to 4.30 pm, according to a report by Reuters.
Similar efforts have previously been unveiled by numerous international exchange operators, according to reports. In late May, CME Group implemented 24×7 trading for cryptocurrency options and futures, while Nasdaq intends to lengthen weekday trading hours to 23 hours beginning in December. Cboe Global Markets also plans to begin trading on its EDGX Equities Exchange for US stocks in December at 23×5.
