Japan Is In Talks with India to Explore Rare Earth Deposits in Rajasthan? Know What Reports Says
According to the reports, Japan is in talks with India to explore the rare earth deposits in Rajashthan. India’s Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy announced last month that three hard rock deposits in Rajasthan and Gujarat contained 1.29 million metric tons of rare earth oxides.
Sources familiar with the negotiations say that Japan is in discussions with India about a joint venture to investigate rare earth resources in Rajasthan. According to Reuters, a news agency, Tokyo is attempting to lessen its dependency on China for rare earth supplies, which are essential for the production of magnets and other high tech products.
The report states that Japan has expressed an interest in Rajasthan’s rare earth resources since last year when it signed a preliminary deal on vital minerals. The agency was informed by sources that Tokyo intends to dispatch professionals to inspect the location.
Through this partnership in Rajasthan, Japan intends to offer money and technology for the extraction of rare earths in return for a consistent supply. India also lacks the methods necessary for mining hard rock, according to the sources. Requests for comment from Reuters went unanswered by the Japanese embassy and the Indian Ministry of Mines.
