We talk about fidelity in relationships, but at the same time, the high trend of extramarital affairs is on its peak. A recent survey has shown a shocking result, where India stands 2nd in office romances after Mexico. Here in India, the number of office spouses is increasing. The data shows a clear trend. This sparked debate online on diminishing trust, loyalty and love between the husband and wife, and what exactly led this trend to rise so high in the country?

According to a recent worldwide study by Ashley Madison in partnership with YouGov, 40% of Indians have had a relationship with or are now having a relationship with a coworker. The poll included 13,581 individuals from 11 nations, including US, UK, Canada, Mexico and Germany, which revealed that India has the second-highest rate of workplace romance in the world. 51% of men had dated a coworker, compared to 36% of women.

What are the results?

With 43% of respondents stating that they have been romantically involved with a coworker, Mexico is in first place, followed by India with 40%. Comparatively speaking, nations such the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada have substantially lower rates of about 30%.

Trend in Youngsters:

The Gen Z workers are becoming more professional and conscious of boundaries. The younger workforce, especially people between the ages of 18 and 24, seemed the most wary, with 34% of them worried about the potential impact of such relationships on their professional lives.

Such a trend is now normalized in many countries but is also an alarming factor, some experts believe. The trust, love and care could end in a long husband-wife relationship due to this shift and the culture could impact future generations. Many could opt for live-in-relationship rather than the full commitment of marriage, which sets them free. In many cases, the relationship outside marriage can get over soon.
