France is experiencing an extreme heatwave. The scorching conditions have led to dozens of casualties and power grid disruption, as per the report.

According to a Meteo France forecaster, France had its hottest day ever on Tuesday, with a peak of 44.3 degrees Celsius in one southwest municipality. Meteo France described the situation as ‘unprecedented’ with 54 departments on red alert. Wednesday will see a jump to 58. To cool off, people have been leaping into rivers and canals all around the nation.

According to the reports, the health ministry in Italy issued its highest level alert for 15 cities and officials took steps to restrict work in certain industries. Strong winds, hail and heavy rains were predicted for the Alps and Apennines.

Britain is also feeling the heat, as the Met Office predicts that temperatures in southern England will reach 37 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, possibly setting a new June record, before continuing to rise on Wednesday and Thursday. Early closure was scheduled for numerous schools.
