Another Indian student was caught shoplifting in a US store. She was caught buying items without paying for them. She was buying merchandise. This was the second or third incident that happened this year. The video is going viral and everybody is reacting to it. After being taken for interrogation, the student couldn’t stop crying. She felt scared and also begging for mercy while apologizing continuously. She said, “I am sorry, I forgot to pay.” The video is widely shared, and many people are reacting with their own opinions on it.

She informed the police that she had purchased the apparel for her brother back in India, who loved ‘Made in USA’ goods but could not afford them. After being charged with theft, the woman is seen in a video of the event that is circulating on social media, crying and apologizing to the cops. She begged the police with folded hands, pleading with them not to arrest her and asking them to “give her a chance” while stating that she forgot to pay for the goods.

More than 3–4 lakh students go to the US for their higher studies. In 2025, as per the reports, the number has declined, not only in the US but also in Canada.

Not the First Incident:

In May, a different Indian woman was the subject of a US probe for reportedly stealing goods worth about Rs 1.1 lakh from a Target store in Illinois. Before trying to exit with a cart full of unpaid goods, she is said to have spent over seven hours in the shop. The woman apologized and offered to pay, as seen in the police bodycam footage, saying, “I am not from this country. I am not going to stay here. I am really sorry to bother you if it is.” “Are you allowed to steal things in India? I did not think so,” said the police officer in response.
