Recently, a stunning view from space has been captured, where we can see the beautiful colors of the earth’s atmosphere. The photo was shared by NASA astronaut Don Pettit. He shared it on his official Instagram profile. The photo has received many likes and comments. This stunning view is just amazing and we can witness the colored shade occurring in the atmosphere.

With a backdrop of twinkling stars, the images shared by astronaut Don Pettit are truly breathtaking. However, the exact date this photo was taken has not been determined. This photo shows our planet bathed in an iridescent yellow glow. “The colors of our atmosphere are visible from space! Green atomic oxygen, orange hydroxyl radicals and some luminescent layers of red glow caused by solar activity”, the caption reads.

The bright colors in the photo are actually due to a phenomenon called airglow, which is different from the aurora borealis. Airglow is the natural process by which Earth’s atmosphere emits light. It can also occur when atoms or molecules ionized by sunlight collide and capture free electrons.

This phenomenon can be compared to the aurora borealis, but while auroras are caused by high energy particles emitted from the solar wind, the atmospheric glow is caused by normal daily solar radiation.

Unlike auroras, which are ephemeral and ephemeral, airglow shines continuously throughout Earth’s atmosphere, creating a thin bubble of light that tightly covers the entire planet.
