This historic mission sent humans around the Moon for the first time since Apollo. Interestingly, the whole world is watching. Launched on April 2, 2026. The crew will be traveling in a figure-eight trajectory, looping out from Earth, around the Moon, and back again. Four astronauts, including NASA’s Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and the Canadian Space Agency’s Jeremy Hansen, took off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It is a monumental 10-day mission to circumnavigate the moon.

This mission is the first moon mission since 1972. It is nothing short of a historic and risky lunar venture, marking the first time astronauts return to the vicinity of the moon in more than 50 years. The mission could travel farther from Earth than any human ever has, breaking the Apollo program’s distance record.

Here are more details about the launch and the schedule of the crew.

More Details About Artemis II Launch

The four-person crew has gone on a 685,000-mile trip. With the initial operations completed, the crew of four will sleep for four hours, then wake up for an orbit adjustment, then sleep for another four hours, until about 1 pm ET on Thursday. Moreover, each crew member will do a 30-minute workout nearly every day to keep their muscles and bones strong in the absence of gravity.

As of April 2, 1.45 pm NZST, the Artemis II crew has entered high Earth orbit about two hours after lifting off from the Kennedy Space Center. A new chapter will begin for some tiny satellites that hitched a ride to space with the Artemis II mission. The crew will spend about a day in orbit testing Orion’s systems. According to NASA, the high Earth orbit extends about 46,000 miles beyond Earth. People around the world are intrigued to know further updates from the crew members.
