Although we currently use WhatsApp as our daily app, the reports indicate that the app will no longer be compatible with older Android phones.
According to the research, WhatsApp would no longer support devices using Android versions earlier than Android 6.0. As a result, after the deadline, the application will no longer be able to function on smartphones running Android 5.0 and 5.1.
The report stated that WhatsApp is now working to support more recent capabilities and higher performance standards, although it presently supports Android 5.0 and higher. According to a report from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp plans to discontinue support for certain earlier generation Android devices beginning in September 2026. Users using older versions of Android will be impacted by the shift, which means that after the deadline, the app will no longer function on some older smartphones.
In addition to this, WhatsApp is continuously releasing new features, such as notification bubbles, as it updates the program to take advantage of the capabilities and performance benchmarks of more recent systems.
