He stepped into the ring for one last time to face Gunther; however, his final match ended on a bittersweet note. The 17-time world champion tapped out his opponent but won the hearts of millions.

Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities showered best wishes, shared emotional notes, and honored the legend for his extraordinary contribution to the sport. Dwayne Johnson, who was also a WWE superstar, posted on X, “John, you epitomise one of my favourite quotes, ‘It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.’ Congratulations on your historic and extraordinary @wwe career, my friend. Have fun, tear it down, and as always, ‘thank you for the house,’ reflecting on John Cena’s legacy.

Other WWE wrestler, The Undertaker, posted, “‘Nice job.’ Those were the words I said to you 23 years ago when you debuted. Now, on the day of your final match, I say again… nice job.” On the other hand, YouTuber and entrepreneur Lily Singh uploaded a video on her Instagram story saying, “Obviously I’m tuned in for John Cena’s last match, and I’m going down memory lane to when I did my 12 collabs. John Cena came to my house by himself. No publicist, no agent, no manager – he drove by himself. The most down-to-earth celeb I’ve worked with. Obviously, I don’t see you – but I see you.”

Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan shared a picture of himself posing with Cena’s entry song, ‘You Can’t See Me’, playing in the background. Priyanka Chopra Jonas paid tribute to Cena, calling him “truly remarkable”. She shared screen space with Cena in the July movie Heads of State.
