On Saturday, December 13, 2025, the audience in Washington, D.C., stood quietly to mark the end of an era with John Cena’s retirement. He stepped into the ring for one last time to face Gunther; however, his final match ended on a bittersweet note. The 17-time world champion tapped out his opponent but won the hearts of millions. 

Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities showered best wishes, shared emotional notes, and honored the legend for his extraordinary contribution to the sport. Dwayne Johnson, who was also a WWE superstar, posted on X, “John, you epitomise one of my favourite quotes, ‘It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.’ Congratulations on your historic and extraordinary @wwe career, my friend. Have fun, tear it down, and as always, ‘thank you for the house,’ reflecting on John Cena’s legacy.

Other WWE wrestler, The Undertaker, posted, “‘Nice job.’ Those were the words I said to you 23 years ago when you debuted.
