On May 2, 2026, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a major update on the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. It has officially announced a 15-member squad for the tournament, scheduled to take place in England and Wales this June. With Harmanpreet Kaur as the lead, the opening batter, Smriti Mandhana, is taking up the role of Deputy. 

Led by chief selector Amita Sharma, the selection committee opted for a blend of experienced campaigners and emerging talent. The team comprises a trio of Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana at the top. Roll your eyes over for more details.
