We all are cricket fans! Watching a cricket match on TV (Nowadays on OTT) with friends/family is a deep-rooted culture. We do experience immense joy, intense emotion and yes, sudden deep disappointment in losing a match too. However, some matches have become nightmares in the past, raising serious questions about the safety of the cricketers.

Recently, Shreyas Iyer suffered a serious internal injury in Sydney during the third ODI India vs Australia match and was immediately rushed to a private hospital where he sent to ICU. Fans were stunned and went into shock. As per the recent media reports, he is out of danger and taken out from the ICU. He suffered internal injury while taking a catch. After this accident, netizens did debate about the safety concerns.

But this wasn’t the first time cricket lovers left concerned. Many shocking incidents/accidents involving players have completely devastated the audience.

Phillip Hughes, Australia: In November 2014, Philip Hughes lost his life after getting hit on the neck. Injury led to subarachnoid hemorrhage. He rushed to the hospital but he passed aways after two days.  Around the corners, fans grief about his tragic death.

Saba Karim, India: During 2000 India vs Bangladesh ODI match, cricket player Saba Karim suffered from a serious eye injury. He got hit in the right eye. The accident made a huge impact on his career leading him to retire from playing cricket. Karim, underwent a surgery.

Mark Boucher, South Africa: Like Saba Karim, South African cricketer Mark Boucher faced severe eye injury during a warm-up match. After this accident in 2012, Mark retired from cricket.

Craig Kieswetter, England: During a domestic match in 2014, Craig suffered from eye and facial injuries. Post accident, a year later, he retired from international cricket.

Raman Lamba, India: Raman was hit by a ball on the temple while fielding in club match in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He suffered fatal internal brain hemorrhage. In 1998, he died after a few days which left fans shocked and in grief.

Luke Fletcher, England: Luke suffered head injury, during T20 Match in 2017. He taken to the hospital. Due to the injury he’s skull fractured. Luke recovered from this accident and returned to cricket.
